The Toro de Jubilo, Bull of Fire This grotesque spectacle annually occurs in Medinaceli, a province of Soria, Spain. Jeering mobs taunt a bull with balls of burning tar or turpentine affixed to his horns. Caked in mud from legs to forehead, the animal slowly scorches. Some bulls smash into walls to escape hours of agony. The Toro de Jubilo is frozen in time a senseless brutalization of animals that has no place in the modern world, regardless of its heritage. Ask officials to permanently cancel the Bull of Fire throughout Spain and enforce laws that shield animals from all forms of abuse, including vulgar rituals and blood fiestas. Scheduled for 11/13/10 this year, the annual savagery known as Toro de Jubilo or Bull of Fire involves mobs chasing bulls they have set on fire. The Soria, Spain tourist board promotes Toro de Jubilo as a tourist attraction. Send comments before and after 11/13, urging permanent cancellation of this sadistic festival.
